The Clinical Team at Barton Options
Alongside our excellent education and care teams, we also have an in-house Clinical Team who provide support and therapy to our children and young people. Our Clinical Team includes experienced and skilled Psychologists and Therapists who deliver a range of clinical and wellbeing services across our school and residential home. Onsite we have a Locum Clinical Psychologist, and two assistant psychologists. We also have the support from our colleagues in neighbouring hubs that provide Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy for our children and young people.
Our team work with each student, their staff and their parents or carers, to provide a nurturing, safe and caring environment here at Options Barton. At the Universal Level, the Clinical Team work together with school staff, to provide a collaborative approach to the curriculum. We also provide staff training, mentoring, and detailed clinical reports to support in key meetings and reviews.
Together as a multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Team are also involved in formulating Positive Behaviour Support Plans, Communication Profiles, and Sensory Profiles for each individual as required. Specialist clinical assessment and interventions are carried out when needed, and if a specific need is identified. We work closely with our staff teams to share ideas and practices to provide holistic and consistent wrap around support for our young people.
‘Ask, Accept, Develop’, is embedded in our service here at Options Barton. This Autism strategy aims to ensure our children and young people’s voices are heard and influence our everyday practice. This means that we Ask our students about their choices and preferences. We Accept the individuality of each of our young people and create environments and communications systems that appropriately meet their needs. Finally, we Develop new skills and strategies to enable and empower our students to increase their independence and improve their wellbeing.
